ABOUT US |
Our lab has recently researched 1. Effects of ocean acidification on a planktonic calcifying marine phytoplankton species, Emiliania huxleyi, 2. Ocean acidification effects on phytoplankton fatty acid composition and copepod fecundity, 3. Role of biofilms on trace metal adsorption on plastic debris, 4. Microbial ecology of glacial melt water streams in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, 5. Dissolved organic carbon release by phytoplankton in the Amazon River plume in the tropical Atlantic Ocean, 6. Phytoplankton species composition and abundance, particularly diazotrophic phytoplankton, in the Amazon River plume. Our lab centers its research on the microbial ecology of the world’s oceans, but we are open to research on other marine research as evidenced by the fact that three of the current graduate students in our lab are working on some aspect of shellfish biology.
